Renewable Energy: Nienhaus Neue Energie shows how it's done

What the Nienhaus family has built over the past few decades is a true milestone for the energy transition. In addition to farming, crop production, and livestock raising, the family focuses on renewable energy—with impressive results. What the Nienhaus family has built over the past few decades is a true milestone for the energy transition. In addition to farming, crop cultivation, and livestock raising, the focus is on renewable energy - with impressive results. The Nienhaus family produces gas and operates a gas processing facility that includes CO₂ and LNG liquefaction, which is an electricity-intensive process.

The electricity required is generated from solar and wind power, as well as three CHP units. Leading the way are 2G CHP units (2 x avus 1000plus, each with an output of 1,035 kWel / 966 kWth). Additionally, operations are tailored to the electricity market. This flexible approach goes hand in hand with the 2G Rental leasing model.

The partnership with 2G Rental yielded various benefits for the Nienhaus family:

  • Smooth project implementation & minimal effort
  • Fixed & predictable rental rates, including insurance
  • A project process that “went so smoothly that you hardly noticed it”

Or as Hugo Nienhaus (Managing Director) puts it: “The lease reflects the situation 1:1 or possibly even more favorably than bank financing. The lease model gives us greater flexibility, and we have professionals on our side.” A powerful example of how agriculture, energy production, and entrepreneurial foresight can together shape the energy transition in a flexible way.
