In Mairago, in the province of Lodi, the agricultural company Società Agricola Barbieri Mario e Alberto SS decided to integrate a CHP plant into their farm, which specializes mainly in milk production and fodder cultivation. The decision was based on the desire to utilize the biogas produced on the farm through an efficient and reliable energy solution that covers the farm's heating needs.

In collaboration with Sistemi Energetici Srl, a partner of 2G Italia, an Agenitor 406 was installed, which is housed in a container and runs on biogas. The CHP plant provides an electrical output of 209 kW and a thermal output of 212 kW. The electricity generated is fed into the grid, while the heat recovered from the engine is used on the farm to support livestock farming.

The CHP has only been in operation for a short time, but the initial results are already positive: the system runs smoothly and contributes significantly to the overall efficiency of the farm. The estimated payback period for the investment is around 10 years.
