Building the Future of Engineering at 2G Energy UK: The 2G Early Years Programme

Through our Early Years Programme, we’re committed to giving young people the opportunity to develop their skills, gain valuable industry experience and begin building a career within the engineering industry, while providing them with the tools, guidance and opportunities to reach their full potential.

Learning Through Experience

For our apprentices, learning doesn’t just take place in the classroom.

Our apprentices split their time between college and hands-on experience within our Service Team, enabling them to apply their learning in a real engineering environment while developing valuable industry skills.

This year, we welcomed three new apprentices to our UK Service Team, joining us from different regions across the UK, including Scotland, the North East and the South of England.

Their first week was spent at our headquarters, where they had the opportunity to learn more about 2G, our products, our values and how we operate as a business. This provided an important introduction to the company and the Service Team before they began their roles in their local regions.

They will now be working alongside our experienced Service and Commissioning Engineers, gaining hands-on experience and developing their skills as they become familiar with the day-to-day work involved in maintaining and supporting our systems across the UK.

Supporting the Next Generation of Engineers

From the very beginning of their journey with 2G, we want our apprentices to feel supported.

Each apprentice is provided with their own service van, tooling and uniform, giving them the equipment they need to begin developing their skills and contributing confidently in the field.

Alongside their college studies and practical experience, they will also benefit from the knowledge and experience of the engineers they work alongside every day.

This combination of formal education, practical training and on-the-job experience is an important part of helping our apprentices develop into confident and skilled engineers.

Opening Doors to Engineering Careers

This year's intake also marks an important milestone for 2G Energy UK, as we welcomed Grace, our first female Field Service apprentice.

Engineering has traditionally been a male-dominated industry, and we want to encourage more women to consider the opportunities available within technical and field-based careers.

Grace's appointment is an important step for our Early Years Programme and it reflects our commitment to creating opportunities for those looking to build careers within engineering.

Our Early Years Programme is about more than supporting apprentices through their qualifications. It's about giving young people the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and gain the experience they need to establish successful careers.

For 2G, it's also an investment in the future of our business.

Our Service Team plays an important role in supporting customers and ensuring our systems continue to operate reliably across the UK. By developing engineering talent from the beginning of their careers, we're helping to build a strong pipeline of skilled engineers who can continue to support our customers, now and in the future.
