The cogeneration that nourishes success

Sustainable energy optimization for conscious food excellence
Faccia F.lli, a beef slaughtering and processing company, has collaborated with AstiEnergy to improve energy efficiency. The installation of a 2G cogenerator led to a primary energy saving of 40% and an economic saving of approximately €280,000/year, demonstrating the key role of 2G Italia in corporate energy efficiency.

Faccia F.lli, a family-run beef slaughtering and processing business in Ceva, Cuneo, has been committed to offering quality products while respecting the environment for 40 years. To pursue these values, in March 2021 it relied on AstiEnergy, an expert in energy saving and efficiency solutions, to sustainably optimize its energy supply.

During the period April-August 2021, AstiEnergy conducted a detailed feasibility study, analyzing energy bills, modeling consumption and identifying the technical characteristics to improve the company's energy efficiency.

The result of the analysis showed that Faccia F.lli, like many in the food sector, requires high quantities of electrical and thermal energy to support production processes, such as powering refrigeration units.

Consequently, the installation of a 360 kWe 2G endothermic cogeneration engine was proposed, sizing the natural gas Agenitor 408 from its original thermal power of 381 kWt to the 349 requested by the customer, in the form of hot water at 90° for cover consumption due to the process. The thermal power feeds the three static accumulators of 3000 liters each, with the addition of a further 100 m 3 appropriately insulated accumulation , to guarantee greater thermal inertia.

With this configuration, the 2G cogenerator guarantees an overall efficiency of 86.2%, with an electrical efficiency of 40.5% and a thermal efficiency of 45.6%.

AstiEnergy, responsible for the design, management and implementation of the project, began operations in August 2021 and concluded with the start-up of the cogenerator in February 2022. During this period, the expected payback times even shortened, reaching less than 3 years.

The results obtained so far are exceptional: a primary energy saving of 40% (approximately 920 MWhp/year) and an economic saving of approximately €280,000/year, taking into account the high energy tariffs of 2022.

Once again, 2G Italia confirms itself as the ideal partner for corporate energy efficiency, offering cogeneration solutions that generate heat and electricity efficiently, protecting the climate and offering significant energy savings.
