Sustainable Energy Transformation for The Summer Berry Company
Facts & figures

Project Overview
The integration of CHP technology and heat pumps provides a reliable source of electricity for high-tech LED lighting and thermal energy that supports a stable greenhouse environment. With over 90% CHP efficiency, the system captures jacket, exhaust, and intercooler heat, maximising energy utilisation. Key benefits of this system include:
- Lower energy costs: Reducing operational expenses through energy efficiency.
- Significant carbon savings: Contributing to a greener future by minimising carbon emissions.
- Extended growing seasons: Ensuring fresh, locally grown produce year-round for supermarkets.
Innovative Energy Solutions
CHP’s dual capabilities of generating electricity and capturing exhaust heat are central to the project’s success. Electricity generated powers LED lighting and heat pumps, whilst exhaust heat is distributed to greenhouses at 60°C. This heat is crucial for maintaining optimal temperatures and enriching the CO₂ levels within the greenhouse, enhancing strawberry growth. One of the systems also operates in “island mode,” enabling self-sufficiency.
By partnering with Ebtech Energy Systems, the project exemplifies the synergy of advanced technologies. Heat pumps utilise CHP-generated power, maximising energy efficiency and sustainability while minimising reliance on external resources.
Shaping the Future of Farming
This collaboration represents a milestone in sustainable food production. By enhancing energy efficiency and productivity, The Summer Berry project is helping redefine the future of farming, ensuring an environmentally responsible and economically viable model.
The combination of 2G Energy’s CHP technology and Ebtech’s heat pump solutions demonstrates a powerful commitment to sustainable innovation, aligning with the global drive toward greener energy and agricultural practices. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future.
