Pharmaceutical Facility in Puerto Rico | 2G Energy, Inc.
Pharmaceutical company in Caguas uses CHP for resiliency and sustainability
Facts & figures
This site is located in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and uses three of 2G Energy's avus 1000b units, each with an output of 3400 kWe. By using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel, this site reduces its carbon footprint by eliminating the need to burn diesel. The three systems are designed for around-the-clock operation and have an electrical and thermal efficiency of over 90%.
The site produces 90% of its electricity and 40% of its steam augmentation with the help of a heat recovery system that recycles waste heat from the engines for thermal energy. Additionally, the systems have a hot water circuit that can be used for absorption chilling or other thermal augmentation needs, although it is not currently necessary for the site's projects. The site also has a decoupled plate and frame heat exchanger to provide an additional hot water supply.
