Innovative Agricultural Sustainability
Varetto and Bosco: avant-garde in agricultural production
Facts & figures
Varetto e Bosco is a family-run business with a long tradition in pig breeding. Founded in the Turin area, it found a new home in the Alessandria area, in Masio, in 1988. Here, taking advantage of a pre-existing structure, the company has been able to expand and become a point of reference in the sector, combining tradition and innovation.
In 2016, to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact, the farm decided to install an agenitor 408 cogenerator from 2G Italia. This cogeneration plant has been housed in a special technical masonry room, thus ensuring optimal protection and a long operating life. The electricity produced is fed into the grid through a transformer substation that interfaces with the 15,000-volt electricity grid.
A key aspect of the success of this installation was the premium maintenance service offered by 2G Italia. Thanks to constant and professional service, the CHP operated smoothly throughout its entire life cycle. Recently, Varetto e Bosco decided to replace the existing engine with a new agenitor 408, a sign of the trust placed in 2G Italia's products and services.
The heart of Varetto and Bosco's sustainability lies in the biological system supporting the cogenerator. The company installed a two-stage digester, built in 2016 by 2G Italia's partner Corradi & Ghisolfi. This digester is fed with livestock manure from pig farming and silage from catch crops. The process produces biogas that feeds the CHP, while the residual digestate is reused as a high-quality soil conditioner and fertilizer. This cycle not only reduces waste but also supports organic and eco-sustainable farming.
In conclusion, the Varetto and Bosco company is an example of how tradition and innovation can coexist harmoniously. The adoption of cogeneration and biogas technologies has made it possible to optimize the use of resources, reduce environmental impact and support sustainable agricultural practices. The decision to continue to collaborate with 2G Italia testifies to the effectiveness and quality of the solutions proposed.
