A Sawblade Manufacturing Facility turns to CHP
Simonds International gets heat and power from 3 avus 500c units
Facts & figures
In 2002, 2G completed a genuine showcase project in the USA, which clarified the high performance and flexibility of combined heat and power.
avus for industry in the USA
Simonds International, a sawblade maker in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, uses three avus 500c CHPs to power and heat its plant. The CHPs have a combined electrical output of 1,800 kW and can meet the company's energy needs with about 15,000 MW of electricity and 18,000 kW of heat per year. The installation was quick and easy as the company was able to place the three containers side by side.
Completely self-sufficient energy supply
With their very high availability, the modules are a fully self-sufficient redundant system. This isolated solution in mains parallel operation makes the facility completely independent from the local grid. With this project, Simonds is also setting new standards for innovation in the use of thermal energy in the USA. While the heat is used to heat the production area in winter, the 2G machine is connected.
